The National Memorial is an architectural sign of Bangladesh. It was built to immortalize the memory of our brave freedom fighters. It stands at Savar in the district of Dhaka. Its foundation was laid on the first anniversary of the victory day. It is built of concrete but made of blood. It has a series of seven towers that rise by stages to a height of. 150 feet. The towers stand on a base measuring 130 feet. Actually, there is a plan to build a huge complex covering 126 acres in several phases. The plan includes a mosque, a library, and a museum. In the museum, there will be relics of the liberation war which will remind the visitors of a valiant struggle and supreme sacrifices of a freedom-loving people. Several graves of the martyred freedom fighters are the most moving, sight of this complex. Standing in front of the graves, people show respect to the martyrs. In fact, the National Memorial reminds us of how the nation came into being.
