Once there lived a poor farmer. He had a goose. It was a wonderful goose. Because it laid golden eggs. He used to sell them in the market and within a short time, he became well off. The man was very happy with the goose. In course of time, he became very greedy and wanted to be very rich overnight.

The farmer said to himself, “Certainly, there are a good number of eggs in its belly. So there is no use in getting on egg every day. I must get all the eggs at a time by cutting the belly of the goose.”Thinking so he decided to cut open its belly without thinking about the consequences.

The next day the greedy farmer took a sharp knife and cut open the belly of the goose. But alas! To his utter surprise, he did not find any egg there. Rather he lost the goose. Thus it is for his greed that he lost all hopes of becoming rich.
