Long ago there lived a merchant. He used to deal in salt. He had a donkey to carry load. He used to sell his salt loaded on the donkey. He had to cross a stream to go to other village. Once his donkey fell into the stream and much of the salt was dissolved in water. The donkey easily.crossed the stream due to the light weight of salt on his back. The time the donkey was happy. The donkey on his next trip knowingly fell into the stream. 

This time the merchant suspected the animal’s intention. On the other day too the donkey intentionally repeated the same trick. His master was now sure about the animal’s evil intention. Next day the merchant loaded the donkey with a lot of cotton. The donkey once again repeated the same trick. He fell into the stream. This time his load became very heavy. The donkey carried the heavy load. It was very tiring for him to move on. The donkey now realized his mistake. He stopped falling down into the stream any more. He thought that it was not good to play tricks. Thus, the merchant had taught the donkey a good lesson.

অনুবাদ: অনেক দিন আগে এক ব্যবসায়ী বাস করত। সে লবণের ব্যবসা করত। বােঝা বহনের জন্য তার একটি গাধা ছিল। সে গাধার ওপর লবণ বােঝাই করে বিক্রি করত। অন্য গ্রামে যাওয়ার জন্য তাকে একটি ছােট নদী পার হতে হত। একদিন তার গাধাটি নদীতে পড়ে গেল এবং বেশিরভাগ লবণই পানিতে বাভূত হয়ে গেল। তার পিঠে লবণের হালকা ওজনের কারণে গাধাটি খুব সহজেই নদীটি পার হয়ে গেল। গাধাটি আনন্দিত হলাে। পরের যাত্রায় গাধাটি চ্ছাকৃতভাবে নদীতে পড়ে গেল। এইবার ব্যবসায়ী পশুটির উদ্দেশ্য বুঝতে পারল। আরেকদিনও গাধাটি একই কৌশল ইচ্ছাকৃতভাবে পুনরাবৃতি করল।

এবার মনিব, পশুটির অসৎ উদ্দেশ্য সম্পর্কে নিশ্চিত হলাে। পরের দিন ব্যবসায়ী গাধার ওপর একটি তুলার বস্তা বােঝাই করল। গাধাটি আবারও সেই কোশল পুনরাবৃত্তি করল। সে পানিতে পড়ে গেল। এই বার বােঝাটি ভারি হয়ে গেল। গাধাটি ভারী বােঝাটি বহন করল। চলাচল করা তার জন্য ভীষণ র ছিল। গাধাটি এবার তার ভুল বুঝতে পারল। সে পানিতে পড়ে যাওয়া বন্ধ করল। সে ভাবল ছল করা ভালা না। এইভাবে ব্যবসায়ী গাধাটিকে উচিৎ শিক্ষা দিল।
