Our War of Independence Paragraph For SSC HSC 

 

Independence means freedom from the domination of others. So, the war of independence refers to the war which is fought for freedom from foreign domination. Bangladesh is an independent country. Our struggle for independence is a history for the nation of Bangladesh. She had to undergo a bloody war for her independence, Since, the end of British rule, Bangladesh was under the domination of Pakistan. From the very beginning. the Pakistani oppressive rulers exploited the Bangalees economically, socially, politically and militarily. For this, the Bangalees had to fight for independence which started on March 26, 1971, and continued for nine months. Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman led the struggle for freedom but soon he was arrested and taken to West Pakistan by the Pakistani rulers. But the struggle did not stop. People from all walks of life joined the war. Bengali military, paramilitary and civilians formed the ‘Mukti Bahini’. They fought face to face against the Pakistani occupation force. About 3 million people sacrificed their lives in the war. On December 16, 1971, the Pakistani army surrendered unconditionally. On that day, we became independent and occupied a place on the world map as an independent nation. Every year, we celebrate our independence on the 26th of March in a befitting manner. It is a public holiday. People go to the National Memorial to show respect to the martyrs. Meetings, seminars, cultural programmes etc. are arranged throughout the country upholding the significance of the day. Radio and television channels also broadcast special programmes on the significance of the day. It is our independence day that inspires us to love our motherland and fight against injustice, tyranny, and falsehood. The day remains ever fresh in the hearts of the people of this country.
