Dipa: Hello, Katha, what are you reading?
Katha: I am reading an article on the importance of learning English.
Dipa: But tell me about your view about the importance of learning English?
Katha: Oh, really? What information have you got?
Dipa: You know English is an international language. It’s the official or semi-official language of more than 60 countries and also of many international organizations. And the process of globalization is increasing its importance more and more.
Katha: You are right. You know, all the books on higher education of every branch of knowledge are written in English. So higher education is almost impossible without English.
Dipa: Do you know that about 350 million people speak English as a first language and another 300 million use it as a second language?
Katha: Yes, I know. I also know that 80% of all the information in the world’s computers is in English.
Dipa: You know English will help us to get good jobs and better salaries ().
Katha: Yes, you are right.
Dipa: So, we all should try to learn English for our better success in life.
Why learning English is Important
Learning English is important, it opens doors to new opportunities. By learning the English language you are able to communicate with people around the world. If you have an interest in traveling abroad or starting a business in another country, then you will need to learn the English language.
The importance of learning English cannot be stressed enough; however, it can be difficult at times because of how different the pronunciation and grammar are from your native tongue.
Learning English can open a world of opportunity. When you speak and write in English, you become part of the largest and most influential language community on the planet. There are over 1 billion people who use English as their primary language, many more who use it as a secondary language, and still thousands more who want to learn it for trade or travel reasons.
